The straw-necked ibis is found throughout mainland Australia and has fascinating plumage.
Above is one nesting at Coolart wetlands, Somers where hundreds of birds gather each Spring.
They are quite happy to gather and nest with white ibises.
This photo shows one of about 25 straw-necked ibises grazing on my school oval today.
They love grassland insects such as locusts and grasshoppers.

Wonderful photos. I love seeing the bigger birds. Their long beaks are so interesting to me as I don't see anything like that in my area.
